NIDea What some NIDians did with an idea they had

Seed of thought

One day, during a rather mundane session of Service Design, two students wondered what it would be like to have all the information that NIDians consumed from multiple sources, collected and made more accessible. They imagined a scenario where every student and faculty had a space of their own, could write their own content, share ideas and work on a common platform that was made for NID. They found the idea quite exciting and decided to delve deeper into it. They listed all the kinds of information a student at NID consumes and how they were currently made available. The more they explored the subject, the more they realized the potential for a service that all NIDians would find useful.

The two of them looked at existing social networks like Facebook and Orkut to see if there could be a solution. However, they both realized the idea they had was much more than just a social network.

They then went around campus, spoke to few friends and acquaintances of theirs, to learn what they thought about the idea. Almost everyone they spoke to found the idea to be cool and some even went on to suggest that they would be the first ones to signup if it ever materialized.

Encouraged with the responses and spirited with a new found enthusiasm, the two decided to execute the idea and make it a reality. They were aware of the previous failed attempts to make such a service. They knew that it was a mammoth project and the only way to make it successful would be to engage more students to participate in it.

This site is the story of that project. One that began with an idea.
